Happy New Year!
For this New Year’s Eve a friend of mine won us tickets to be on the Cahill Expressway above Circular Quay for the midnight fireworks – giving us some of the best views of the Harbour Bridge. Because we couldn’t access the expressway until 10.30pm we watched the 9pm fireworks from Observatory Hill.
All up the evening was fun, and different to previous years which have been spent at Barangaroo. Observatory Hill would be a great place to watch both sets of fireworks, it doesn’t have the best angle on the bridge but you can see a lot of the harbour. While the views from the expressway were great, not staying in one place the entire evening was rather annoying, and we learnt that crowds of families push forward in lines worse than most young people do! A little bit of extra excitement was also added to the evening when something caught fire just before midnight in Circular Quay sending flames and smoke high into air.
Below is a selection of photos from the evening.Read more
This afternoon I went out to watch the start of the Sydney to Hobart yacht race from South Head.
After almost missing the start of the race due to the bus getting caught in traffic I arrived with 3 minutes to spare.
Below are a selection of shots of the boats as they went through the heads, I was mostly just pointing and shooting as the shear number of people didn’t give much of an opportunity to line up perfect shots.Read more
Last night I went back down to Bondi Beach with some friends to visit Sculpture By The Sea again.
Below are some photos of sculptures that I didn’t post photos of when I visited a few weeks ago.Read more
This morning I went down to Bondi Beach to check out Sculpture by the Sea.
I did a pretty good job of getting in before all the crowds, although, there was still many people along the coastal walk.
The photos below are just a mere sample of the many sculptures along the walk between Bondi and Tamarama and it is well worth checking out in person over the next three weeks.Read more
I spent yesterday at Cockatoo Island exploring this year’s Biennale of Sydney.
My favourite installation was of a Chinese classroom where some of the desks had animations projected onto them telling a story.
Below are a few photos, however, the Biennale is best experienced in person. It is free, and runs until mid September.Read more

Last night I went with a group of mates to the T20 Cricket International between Australia and India at ANZ Stadium Olympic Park.
The event was really fun and there was a carnival like atmosphere there. The game itself was great, despite India being very much off form. Below are a few photos from the night.
Today is Australia Day. Despite the heavy rain this morning I went down to the harbour to see some of the events. The highlight of the day (for the second year in a row) was the display by the Australian Defence Forces.Read more
